Mark 16:17-18
"And these signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; THEY WILL LAY THEIR HANDS ON THE SICK, AND THEY WILL RECOVER”.
We Are Called To Pray For Others.
Did you know that God has called each one of us to step out in faith and pray for others? Many of the people we know suffer from physical ailments along with insecurities and recurring emotional pain. God has called each one of us to pray in faith for them to receive healing. God’s Word tells us that we have all been called to lay hands on the sick so that they will be healed. This is not just something our pastors are called to do. This is something that every believer is called to. If you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you, God’s healing power is inside of you.
God will sometimes use us to minister to someone who is dealing with something we used to struggle with. When God comforts us, we are then able to do the same thing for someone else in a similar situation. “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us” (2 Corinthians 1:4).
It can be intimidating to pray for someone’s healing if you’ve never done it before. Many questions and fears can keep us from praying for someone that God has put on our heart:
- “What if I make a fool out of myself?”
- “What if I don’t know what to say?”
- “What if I say the wrong thing?”
- “What if she doesn’t get healed?”
At some point, we all need to step out in faith and let God’s healing power work through us. God is not looking for the perfect prayer in order to heal someone. You don’t need to know any “fancy” words to pray for someone’s healing. God is interested in the faith that you have, not if you say everything right. He is looking for faith, not perfection. Remember, God does not want or expect us to do this in our own strength! We can only do this with His help.

Last night our Pastor preached on the subject of praying for one another (1 Thess 3:9-13). It is so important to pray according to God's Word.
I thank the Lord that hHe has given us authority to pray over the sick that they may be made whole. Let's put on the whole armor of God and walk in obedience.
Let us be BOLD in HIM!
I am doing a study of "Are we commanded to pray for the sick OR are we commanded to heal the sick?" I am finding that we are in fact commanded to heal the sick. Ultimately we know and understand that God does the healing but I believe that Christ's death on the cross was for far more then remission of our sins. "By His stripes we are healed"...He gave us the power of the Holy Spirit and the use of His name to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers,drive out demons, and raise the dead. Like Moses when the children of Israel were trapped by the sea and cried out for God to do something, God told Moses in Exodus14:15 Then the LORD told Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelis to move out! :16 You are to raise your staff, stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it, so the Israelis may go into the middle of the sea on dry land.
The Holy Spirit works through us and with us in healing the sick. We are merely instruments or willing vessels that move out in faith.
The word repent actually means to "change the way you think". Sin is not the issue anymore, Jesus paid that price. Jesus gave us power over sickness and diseases at Pentecost and I am finding that we are commanded to go out and heal the sick. I am also learning that God does not want us to beg for something He already gave us, like Moses. After all, we are His children and we do not need to beg.
